Explore some of my past work.

I’ve been lucky to work with some really great brands.

I currently operate my own consulting company named Skwintz. We’ve been building websites that build businesses since 2013. During this time, I’ve had a chance to work on some fun projects and solve some interesting problems in a variety of different roles. Below are a handful of my favorite projects.

A custom quiz to help customers determine their specific product

John Ewing Company - 2019

I led a team to create a custom quiz called BarnIQ to help customers determine the correct supplement for their horse. I also developed the front-end code for the quiz and landing page.

Front-end development for Worldwide partner’s website

Proteus - 2019

As a contractor with Proteus, a software company in Lincoln, NE. I developed the front-end code for the Worldwide Partner’s website (along with the Proteus CMS). I worked alongside the director of product delivery to create the responsive website on the Proteus CMS.

Doane University - 2018

I managed and led an initiative to develop a new microsite for Doane University that promoted their new agribusiness program. I also developed the front-end code for the website.

A microsite to celebrate MISO’s 15th anniversary

Miso Energy - 2016

Partnered with MISO’s marketing team, I helped create a microsite that celebrated MISO’s 15th anniversary. I developed the front-end code and WordPress development. The website was responsive and pulled data from MISO’s realtime energy loads and fuel mix.

Front-end development for the Union Pacific website

Union Pacific - June 2013 - May 2015

As a contractor with Union Pacific, I developed the front-end code for the corporate website. The design was provided by the manager of corporate design. The website was responsive and built off a SMACSS architecture. Additionally, a digital style guide was created for future development.

MISO was celebrating 15 years of regional transmitton services. They were seeking out a way to launch a microsite that took users on a journey of the past decade and a half.

MISO had lots of content they needed highlighted and displayed. The challenge of this project was how to best organize the information to highlight their achivements while keeping employees reading the site engaged.

They wanted something that was unique and that could be highlighted at their 15 year celebration that winter.

The MISO site was built on WordPress as a custom developed theme. The real time information was pulled from their API with the help of another developer.

A few custom scripts were developed as well. One such effect was an interactive map showing the MISO territory over time.

All information on the page is able to be updated via WordPress. I used the Advanced Custom Fields plugin to create fields that could be pulled in and used anywhere on the site.

Proteus, a development firm in Lincoln, Nebraska had a design for a website they needed put on their CMS.

I wrote the front end development (HTML, Freemarker, CSS, little javascript) and plugged the site into their CMS. (Proteus CMS)

The site is responsive and included multiple page templates. Other tech used includes: SCSS, Github, Webstorm, Jira, Gulp.js.

John Ewing Company wanted a way to customize and sell their horse supplements. We designed and built a custom quiz that would suggest the correct supplement mix for the customer's horse and save the information for re-order later.

To plug into their existing website, we used Gravity forms to capture the user's information and store it for later customization of the quiz.

In addition to managing the project, I built the static HTML/CSS and plugged it into gravity forms. I also built the javascript for the add/remove supplement feature on the product page.

Once the name and photo was added, we used that to personalize the quiz questions. We partnered with another development company for the personalization and intigration with WooCommerce.

The horses information would add certain values to a string which would determine the final product.

On the results page, the user could add or remove supplements to their "supplement mix" to create a customized supplement for their horse. The price and product would dynamically change based on which supplements were added.

Doane University Needed a way to market it's new Agribusiness program revolving around it's "5 key points". We needed something that would stand out amongst other more stale university agribusiness websites.

I managed the project and developed the site in static HTML/CSS/JQuery. I handed off the files for their developers to upload into their own hosting.

Some parallax scrolling was used as well as some Jquery to animate numbers when they apeared on the screen. This hint of animation created a spark of interest to keep the user engaged.

The site was made with the idea that this template could be used for other programs if need be. This meant the code had to be flexible where possible.

The development team was able to get the site setup on their servers and started the campaign.

Doane has had a lot of success with the micro site, including with organic traffic. The Agribusiness program is now showing more interest out of any of their undergraduate programs.
